It was very good and well planned as always.

Sister Leslie Welker spoke to all the sisters first. She is from St. Johns and works in the temple so some of you may know her. Her husband passed away a few years ago in a car accident. She said that she didn't know how she was going to get through life without him. As you can imagine she was very depressed and down. Her friend invited her to women's conference at BYU and even though she didn't want to go she decided to. She went to a class where the speaker started out by asking "Can a pessimist turn into an optimist?" Then he went on to say that how we feel is a choice. She decided that it was her choice how she felt everyday so she came up with 5 questions to ask herself every morning when she wakes up to help her feel better about herself and the day.

1. What do I love about myself? Think of the first thing that comes to mind. She says if we ask we will find an answer so take the time to ask yourself.

2. What do I have to look forward to today? The point is to be excited about something, even if it is insignificant. If there isn't something to look forward to, then what is the point.

3. What does Heavenly Father want me to learn today? You don't necessarily have to answer this right then, but say the question so you will be thinking about it throughout the day.

4. Who can I serve today? We have all heard how service will make you feel better, so let's do it!

5. What am I grateful for? Think about the good that is happening in your life even if there is a whole lot of bad. She suggested starting a journal to just write what you are thankful for in it.

Then she concludes by telling us each to make sure we LAUGH OUT LOUD each day. Even if it is at ourselves.

We then broke into groups and went to 3 different classes.
Sister Sloan spoke about the importance of the temple. She gave us a picture of the Snowflake temple with a quote by Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone, "I promise you that all who faithfully attend to temple work will be blessed. Your families will draw closer to the Lord, unseen angels will watch over your loved ones when satanic forces tempt them, the veil will be thin and great spiritual experiences will distill upon this people."

Sister Laney taught about the importance of self reliance. She spoke of 7 parts of self-reliance that we need to work on: Resource Management; Social, Emotional, and Spiritual Strength; Service; Home Storage; Employment; Health; and Education. We need to fill up our "Ark of Self-Reliance" so we will be in a position to help ourselves and those around if they are ever in need of help.

Sister Gillespie spoke on the importance of visiting teaching. She went over the basics of visiting teaching and the types of contacts that count. Then she reiterated that the point of visiting teaching is not to just "get it done" each month, but to administer provide comfort to the sisters. Make sure to share the message in some way even if you are doing a phone call visit.Enrichment for the soulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683298427722019100noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3476967787183407353.post-58807569301054787732010-04-10T12:34:00.000-07:002010-04-10T12:58:06.685-07:00THANK YOU!
We wanted to say a big thank you to all those who

helped make the Relief Society Birthday Celebration

such a huge success!

-Kathleen Ham. and her husband for the super cute crafty letters

-Debra Brew., Amanda McN., Linda Lu., Colleen Nic., Shelley Cros., for helping with the beautiful decorations.

-PJ and Tana for helping in the kitchen and clean-up

-Young Women and Sis. She is the oldest in her family of 5 brothers and one little bonus 4 year old sister (those who see them together think Kara is her mommy). Kara and Kyler have a little 4 month old boy, Braxten. Some of her favorite things include the color sage green, Mexican food, making crafts, going on dates, decorating, cooking, sports and blogging. One of her most embarrassing moments happened her Junior year in HS. During a cross country meet she took a wrong turn & spent 2 hours lost on the course until they found her. Kara adds; “the next day at the school assembly, they gave me a compass as a joke. I was pretty embarrassed!” Something about Kara no one would know is a few years ago, she was in the Miss Graham County pageant. As a dream, she would someday like to go to Uruguay where Kyler served his mission. She and Kyler met at EA playing volleyball. Kyler’s job brought them to Round Valley 2 months ago. Kara’s favorite Latter-day prophet is President Gordon B. Hinkely because, “he was such a cute prophet who always had a good joke up his sleeve and always treated his wife dearly.”

Kara, Kyler and Braxten will only be in our ward a few more months, but we still want to welcome them and are so glad you are in our ward!Enrichment for the soulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683298427722019100noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3476967787183407353.post-325317030941431172010-02-02T10:07:00.000-08:002010-02-08T19:49:28.564-08:00UPDATE on the Quilter's Patch locationFor the Quilter's Patch on Tuesday, Feb. 16th at 6pm, there is a change in the location.
We will be in the P R I M A R Y Room. Almost all products will go on sale once a coupon is issued.
· Be aware of sale trends and when things go on sale. July=picnic items, paper plates. Holiday=baking items.
· Try it for several months before giving up, treat this new way of shopping as a challenge.
· Start thinking of your coupons as cash.
· Check your receipts before you leave the store. They make mistakes too!
· By pairing coupons with the sales, you should be able to cut your bill in half.
· Base your meals around the deals-It is cheaper to shop from your own pantry (i.e. stock up when groceries are at rock bottom prices, whether you need it right then or not, and you will never pay full price again!)

Doubling & Stacking
· Bashas, Safeway and Fry’s double coupons up to a dollar everyday. For example: $.35 coupon doubles to $.70 and a $.75 will double to $1.
· They will only double 3 of the SAME or like coupon in one transaction. After the 3rd one, you can still use more coupons, they just will not double them.
· Stacking is when you use a store coupon (see in store ads) with a manufactures coupon together for 1 item.

Watch Store Promotions
· Look at the weekly ad for promotions and take advantage of them. Pair the sales with your coupons to save even more
· Stock up on staples when they are on sale. You can freeze meat, cheese, milk and bread for later use.
· Watch sales limits. If you exceed the limit, often you will be charged full price.
· Catalinas: these are coupons that print at the check out registers. They are like money towards your next purchase. If yours doesn’t print, call the Catalina Marketing Company at 1-(888) -8coupon. Often if store promotions say $5 back, it will be given to you in this form. Watch the expiration dates.

Shopping Myths
· Store brand is not always cheaper than the national brand
· Buy the smaller size with your coupon—SMALLER size equals bigger savings
· When you request a Rain Check, you can still use your coupon with that item unless the coupon has expired.
· Don't be loyal to a particular store or brand.
· You CANNOT use 2 manufacturer's coupons for 1 item even if it came from a Bashas ad (It will say “Manufacturer’s Coupon)

Coupon Sources
· Main source is in the Sunday newspaper.(Get multiples of each coupon so when an item is cheap or free, you will have many instead of just one)
· Internet coupons: Print limit of 2 www.boxtops4education.com, www.redplum.com, www.smartsource.com, www.coupons.com & often the manufactures website for a particular product will offer coupons savings: www.bettycrocker.com
· Magazines (All You magazine through a subscription or buy only at Wal-Mart)
· Coupon trading or swapping or even E-bay!
· Catalina coupons
· E-coupons are paperless or clip less coupons that you load to your shoppers card: www.cellfire.com, www.shortcuts.com
· Ask friends, neighbors, family & co-workers for their extra unused coupon inserts.
· Included with samples.
· In or On the product packages.
· In store coupon booklets & blinky machines

Brother B o o n e taught us about investments and what to look for and watch when investing. Amanda has 2 boys, Michael 3 and Benjamin 22 mo. Amanda’s favorite place is her Mom’s arms, which happens to be in AZ. Some of her favorite things include the color Aqua and chocolate. When asked about her most embarrassing moment, Amanda replied: “At 14 yo’s old: Walked out of the ladies room during church with my skirt tucked in my pantyhose! Fortunately only 1 person saw me & hurried to tell me about it. But still!” Amanda says something no ones knows about her is she’s always afraid she is making a fool of herself. (Rest assured, we all think that about ourselves too!) Amanda wishes she could go to school to be an Architect & help with the green/eco housing movement. A movie that best describes her life is “Connie and Carla”. She adds “although how Women dressing as men dressing as women describes me- I’m not sure.” When asked how she met her husband, Amanda says: “My husband fell madly in love with me the first moment he saw me (which was good, cuz he’s kinda hard headed), but it took me 3 weeks. I didn’t fall in love with him truly until he yelled at me for the first time. We met in Utah, and 9 weeks after we had met we were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, on a Tuesday. I don’t like to procrastinate things. They have been in Round Valley since Oct. & adds “It has long been a dream of my husband and I to live here ever since my mom bought her second home.” Callings she has had in the church include Relief Society chorister, which according to Amanda was someone’s terrible idea and a sunbeams teacher, which she says was kinda fun, but pretty stressful since she was pregnant for the first time. Her favorite Latter-day Prophet is President Hinckley. When asked why, Amanda replied, “He always knew just what I needed to hear. I miss his kindness & humor.” Thank you for letting us get to know you more. Welcome Amanda!Enrichment for the soulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683298427722019100noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3476967787183407353.post-47303607194791073982010-01-06T09:12:00.000-08:002010-01-11T18:22:58.455-08:00Relief Society Board Meeting

Relief Society Board Meeting

Thursday, January 21st 6pm

YW room
Enrichment for the soulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04683298427722019100noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3476967787183407353.post-15693592945284875812010-01-06T08:51:00.000-08:002010-01-11T18:23:17.440-08:00BEATING THOSE BUDGET BLUES

Relief Society Meeting
Tuesday, January 26th
6pm
Stake Center's RS room

Make your New Years Resolutions and come learn how to maximize and stay within your budgets!
